Getting an MBA can be a great way to pursue a career change. For example, you might be an engineer looking to move into management–an MBA can help. Or, you may be looking to move into a completely different field, such as banking, finance, or consulting. Normally, these companies would not consider somebody from outside the industry, but the MBA shows that you have attained a general knowledge of management, finance, and critical thinking that will allow you to succeed in these careers.

It is easier to change careers when you are younger than 30. Many companies do not want to invest time in older graduates unless they already have specific experience that will translate to their industry. For example, if you have done technology consulting and have experience managing clients and even developing business, this can translate well to management consulting.
